Namibia qualified for T20 World Cup 2024, know which teams will participate

Namibia on Tuesday confirmed its place in the T20 World Cup 2024 to be played in West Indies and United States of America (USA). They qualified for the mega event by defeating Tanzania by 58 runs in the T20 World Cup Africa Region Qualifier 2023 at the Wanderers Cricket Ground in Windhoek.

After losing the toss and batting first, Namibia scored 157 runs at the loss of six wickets. JJ Smit scored the most runs for the team. He played an unbeaten inning of 40 with the help of one four and four sixes in 5 balls. Chasing the target, Tanzania managed to score only 99 runs after losing 6 wickets in 20 overs. Amal Rajeevan scored the most runs for the team. Facing 45 balls, he played an inning of 41 runs with the help of 2 fours. JJ Smit was awarded the Man of the Match award.

After winning five consecutive matches, Namibia are on top of the table in the qualifiers with 10 points and a net run rate of +2.776. They started their campaign with a morale-boosting seven-wicket win against Sikandar Raza's Zimbabwe. After Namibia secured a spot, three teams, Uganda, Kenya and Zimbabwe, are fighting for the remaining spot at the T20 World Cup 2024.

Uganda and Kenya have won three of their four matches and their fate is in their own hands. Zimbabwe registered their biggest win in T20Is against Rwanda by a margin of runs, which also increased their net run rate to +2.276. To finish second, apart from winning both their remaining matches, other results will also have to go in their favour. Rwanda and Tanzania have already been eliminated from the competition. Nigeria's hopes of making it to the World Cup are almost over.
