On getting bail, there will be immediate release from jail, Supreme Court launches FASTER 2.0 portal

To speed up court proceedings, Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud has launched FASTER 2.0 portal.
The new portal will immediately send information about court orders regarding release of prisoners to the jail authority, trial court and high court. This will save time in releasing the prisoners. Under the current system it takes a lot of time to be released from jail. After the launch of the new portal, this matter will accelerate and immediate release of prisoners will be possible.

Yesterday, on the occasion of Constitution Day, an event was organized in the Supreme Court. In this event, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court launched the FASTER 2.0 portal. According to the ET report, CJI Chandrachud said that we are launching a portal where the judicial order for the release of a person is transferred to jails, trial courts and High Courts for immediate implementation. Let us tell you that a lot of emphasis is being laid on technology in the judicial process.

There is a delay in release now

Under the current rule, the physical copy of the official court order for release from jail passes through many government departments. After this the court order reaches the jail authority. The jail administration releases the prisoner only after receiving the copy of the order. This means that even after the release order is issued by the court, it takes a long time for the prisoner to be released from jail.

Supreme Court orders will be available in Hindi

FASTER 2.0 portal has gone live. This will promote instant communication between concerned authorities, which will help in improving the judicial system of the country. Apart from FASTER 2.0, CJI Chandrachud also introduced the Hindi version of e-SCR portal. This portal provides the facility to view the orders of the Supreme Court in Hindi.

People should not be afraid of courts- CJI

Addressing the event, CJI Chandrachud emphasized the role of the Supreme Court as a 'people's court'. He told the people that they should not be afraid of going to court. The CJI further said that under the Constitution, any dispute can be resolved democratically. In doing so, courts play an important role in upholding principles and procedures.
