Sahara Group Chairman Subrata Roy passed away in Mumbai, breathed his last at the age of 75.

 


Sahara Group founder Subrata Roy has passed away at the age of 75. He breathed his last in a Mumbai hospital today after a long illness. His last rites will be performed in Lucknow on Wednesday. Akhilesh Yadav expressed grief over his demise and called it a personal loss.

Subrata Roy was the son of late Sudhari Chand Roy. He was born in an upper middle class family in Araria, Bihar. Subrata Roy was always very good in studies. He has done Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from Government Technical Institute, Gorakhpur. Before establishing Sahara Group, he had spent a long time in real estate. Before establishing Sahara Group, he had 18 years of real estate experience and 32 years of extensive business experience. He is married to Swapna Roy and has two sons.

Died at 10:30 pm

According to the information given so far by Sahara India, Subrata Roy is suffering from Metastatic Stroke, High Blood Pressure and Diabetes, due to these three problems, he was also surrounded by many other diseases. He died due to cardiorespiratory arrest at 10:30 pm on 14 November. It is said that he was admitted to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital two days ago on 12th November.

Had connection with Bihar

Sahara chief Subrata Roy was a resident of Araria district of Bihar, his early education was in Kolkata, after which he went to Gorakhpur. According to a report, in 1978, Subrata Roy used to sell biscuits and namkeen on a scooter with his friend, with two chairs and a scooter in a room, he took his business to Rs 2 lakh crore. Opened a chit fund company with the same friend, the middle class was so impressed by this company that at that time even a person earning Rs 100 used to deposit Rs 10 to 20 in this company.

Tried hand in many businesses

At one time Sahara Group was the owner of the Pune franchise of IPL. Along with this, Sahara Group also had stake in Formula One racing team Force India. Sahara Group was planning to develop more than 60 townships across the country with a planned investment of Rs 90 thousand crores. Sahara Group provides employment to about 11 lakh people. Talking about Sahara Group, they have dominance in real estate, insurance, media, entertainment, sports and health services.

Akhilesh Yadav-Shivpal Singh expressed grief

Many political personalities including SP President Akhilesh Yadav and his uncle Shivpal Singh Yadav have expressed grief over the demise of Sahara Shri Subrata Roy. SP President Akhilesh Yadav has written on the social media platform that Sahara Shri's demise is a big loss for Uttar Pradesh and the country. Whereas Shivpal Singh Yadav has written that 'Sad news has been received about the demise of Saharashree Subrata Roy. May God grant peace to the soul of the departed and give strength to the bereaved family to bear this immense grief.

Subrata Roy was out on bail

A case was going on in Patna High Court against Subrata Roy for not paying people's money for many years. He was on bail in this case, last year itself the Supreme Court had put a stay on the arrest order of Patna High Court while hearing it immediately, apart from this, an order has been given to maintain the status quo regarding any further action against him.
