2 current Test captains who were not born in the country they captain

Test captaincy is a huge honor for any cricketer. While players may get a chance to captain in the white ball format, the red ball format is unique in this regard. Unless the player has been part of the setup for some time, it is unlikely that other cricketers will get this opportunity. Interestingly, this big responsibility has sometimes been given to players who were not even born in that country. Undoubtedly, these cricketers must have worked hard to climb the ranks in their current countries. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of two current Test captains who were not born in the country they captain.

1) Ben Stokes (England) - New Zealand

The most popular name on this list is, of course, Ben Stokes. England has seen a lot of cricketers coming from different parts of the world. Eoin Morgan, one of England's greatest captains, was actually born in Dublin, Ireland. Actually, Morgan initially played for Ireland.

In Stokes' case, he is from New Zealand. That said, when it comes to Test captaincy, he is one of the best players in England. Stokes is a top cricketer and he still has a few more years to give to his country.

2) Shan Masood (Pakistan) - Kuwait

Shan Masood is part of this list of current Test captains who were not born in the country they captain. After Babar Azam stepped down from the post, Shan Masood took over the post. Shaan was born in Kuwait and was educated in the United Kingdom.

Test captaincy requires technical proficiency and a high-class temperament. Shaan has shown this before also. This is one of the main reasons why he was chosen. However, this will be a big challenge for them. It remains to be seen how he will perform.
