A vigorous debate is going on in the Lok Sabha on the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Amendment Bill. During the discussion on this debate, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that everyone is in agreement on the objectives of the bill. He said that this bill is to provide justice to the people. The bill I have brought is a bill to provide justice to those who were wronged, insulted and ignored for 70 years.
The Union Home Minister said that this bill is a bill to take forward those who suffered injustice in the last 70 years. This bill is to give respect and leadership to those who were displaced in their own country. He said that I am happy that no one opposed this bill. The discussion lasted for six hours. Shah said that those who were asking what would happen by giving reservation to displaced Kashmiri Pandits... then I want to say that by giving reservation to Kashmiri Pandits, their voice will echo in the Kashmir Assembly and if the situation of displacement arises again, they will Will stop him. On this I want to say that on 5-6 August 2019, their voices which were not heard for years, were heard by Modi ji and today they are getting their rights. When Kashmiris were displaced, they had to become refugees in their own country. He said that Narendra Modi is a leader of the country who comes from the poorest of the poor families. He knows the pain of the backward class and also the pain of the poor.
This bill will provide strength to the people who suffered the tragedy.
Through this bill, the people who have suffered the terrible tragedy of terrorism will get strength. This bill is for the rights and empowerment of those who are being displaced from their own country and uprooted from their homeland. Shah said that due to terrorism, 46631 families and 157967 people have left their cities and are displaced and living in other states.
43 assembly seats in Jammu, 47 in Kashmir and 24 assembly seats for PoK.
After the first war with Pakistan, 31779 families have been displaced from PoK, 26319 families have settled in Jammu and Kashmir and 5460 families have settled across the country. We have deliberately created a balance in this delimitation. Through the new bill, 2 nominated members displaced from Kashmir and 1 nominated representative from the area which is part of unauthorized Pakistan will be elected. Overall, earlier there were 3 nominated members in the Assembly and now there will be 5 nominated members. Assembly seats have been increased from 37 to 43 in Jammu region and from 46 to 47 in Kashmir region.
