Apart from these workers, many students working in the medical field took UK visas on a large scale last year. Last year, Indians were at the top among those applying for visas to Britain in different categories. Indians had the highest share in the student visa category. Indian students are mostly going to Britain through the new postgraduate visa route. Last year, about 43 percent of the grants given under this system were availed by Indians.

How many Indians applied for visa

There was an increase of about 9 percent in the number of skilled workers in Britain last year. At the same time, more than double the increase in health and care visas was recorded in Britain last year. The most people who applied for visas in Britain last year were from India, Nigeria and Zimbabwe. Last year, around 1 lakh 34 thousand Indian students were given visa grants. Among the visas applied for tourism, the proportion of Indians was the highest. 27 percent of Indians applied for UK visa as tourists, which was more than neighboring China.

There is pressure on Rishi Sunak government

The new rules that have changed in Britain will come into effect from next year 2024. Regarding the new immigration rules, the British government has said that this will reduce the number of people coming to Britain every year. Home Secretary James Cleverley announced this decision and said that Britain is taking strong action to reduce authorized immigration.
