A 36-year-old Israeli woman was found dead at her residence in Kerala's Kollam district on Thursday. This information was provided by the police. Police suspect that the woman's 70-year-old live-in partner murdered her and an FIR has been registered against him under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
An officer of the Kottiyam police station gave details of the statement given by the accused, who describes himself as a yoga acharya. The officer said that the man has said in his statement that both of them (the couple) decided to commit suicide and as a result the woman slit her throat.

Police said the man claimed that he also stabbed himself with a knife on his neck and later on his stomach. However, apart from the neck, the woman had several knife wounds on other parts of her body, police said. The officer said that a case has also been registered against the said person under Section 309 (attempt to commit suicide) and he is currently admitted in the hospital and under police surveillance.

The incident took place on Thursday afternoon and came to light when a relative of the accused found the couple injured in their room. The officer said that according to the accused, the woman was depressed and was not feeling better despite learning yoga from him.
