With this, the speculations that this event could take place in hybrid model or in some other country have now come to an end. Current PCB Chairman Zaka Ashraf was present at the signing of this historic agreement along with ICC General Counsel Jonathan Hall. Hosting the event is a significant occasion for Pakistan cricket as the country has not hosted any major ICC tournament since the conclusion of the 1996 ODI World Cup.
With Pakistan being awarded the hosting rights, all eyes will be on the security arrangements made for the prestigious tournament in Pakistan and hence Ashraf and his committee are trying to ensure that they are able to provide foolproof security to the visiting international teams. Leave no stone unturned.
PCB gave information about this through its social media and said in the release, "PCB has already informed the government to the best of its ability to provide foolproof security to the international teams coming for the Champions Trophy. Caretaker Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq Kakkar, in a recent meeting with the Chairman of the PCB Management Committee, has assured the cooperation of the security agencies in the successful hosting of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
However, BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) has not yet made any official statement on India's participation in this ICC event. In such a situation, it will be interesting to see whether the Indian team tours the neighboring country for this ICC event to be held in Pakistan or not. Bilateral relations between the two Asian countries (India and Pakistan) have not been good since the 26/11 Mumbai attacks and this has also affected the cricket relations between the two boards. The Indian cricket team has not traveled to Pakistan since participating in the 2008 Asia Cup and losing to Sri Lanka in the final.
