'I myself called Mohammad Aamir' Mohammad Hafeez told Aamir's decision

After the poor performance in the World Cup 2023, there were many changes in the Pakistani cricket team. Babar Azam stepped down from the captaincy in two formats and Mohammad Hafeez was made the new director of the team and Hafeez will also be seen in the role of head coach on the Australia tour. Hafeez is looking very positive before the Australia tour and he believes that the Pakistani team will give good results in Australia.

Hafeez recently held a press conference in which he answered many questions apart from the preparations for the Australia tour. Along with this, Hafeez also made a revelation about Mohammad Aamir. Hafeez has said that he himself had called Mohammad Aamir to withdraw his international retirement and be available for selection again by playing domestic cricket, but the fast bowler refused.

Aamir retired from his Test career in 2019 before retiring from all formats last year. At the time, he said that he was being "mentally tortured" and taunted that he did not want to play for Pakistan. Since then, he has participated in several T20 leagues around the world and worked as a cricket expert.

Hafeez said in the press conference, “I personally called Mohammad Aamir and told him that if he wants to play for Pakistan, he is free to take back his retirement and come back into the system. If he performs at the domestic level, he will be taken purely on merit but he told me that he has moved well beyond these things.

Let us tell you that in his 11-year long career, Aamir took 259 international wickets in all formats, which includes 119 wickets in Test, 81 in ODI and 59 wickets in T-20 International matches.
