Indian team announced for T20I series against England, three new faces got place for the first time

 


The Indian women's cricket team was announced on Friday for the 3 T20I series (IND-W vs ENG-W) to be held against England this month. The 16-member squad includes mostly well-known faces but Shreyanka Patil and Saika Ishaq have entered the team for the first time. Both these players have had impressive performances for some time now. Fast bowler Renuka Singh has also returned. The command of the squad will be in the hands of regular captain Harmanpreet Kaur, while Smriti Mandhana will be seen as her deputy.

Right-handed Shreyanka Patil impressed with her off-break bowling and lower-order batting ability in the inaugural edition of the WPL this year. She was part of Royal Challengers Bangalore in the tournament. In the same year, she also got a chance to play in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) and became the first Indian player to play in this tournament. Shreyanka has also been selected in the India A squad for the 3 T20 match series being played against England A and she was the player of the match in the first match.

Whereas, Saika Ishaq was a part of Mumbai Indians that won the inaugural season of WPL. He played an important role in the success of the team with his bowling. Saika was among the top 5 bowlers taking the most wickets in the tournament with 15 wickets.

With the arrival of these two players, experienced Rajeshwari Gaikwad and Devika Vaidya were dropped from India's T20I team. Apart from this, Mannat Kashyap, who impressed in the Under-19 World Cup, has also got a place for the first time, who is also a part of the series being played against England A.

Indian squad for the T20I series against England: Harmanpreet Kaur (captain), Smriti Mandhana (vice-captain), Jemimah Rodrigues, Shafali Verma, Deepti Sharma, Yastika Bhatia (wk), Richa Ghosh (wk), Amanjot Kaur, Shreyanka Patil, Mannat Kashyap, Saika Ishaq, Renuka Singh Thakur, T Sadhu, Pooja Vastrakar, Kanika Ahuja, Minnu Mani.

Let us tell you that the T20I series against England is to start from 6th December and the next two matches will be played on 9th and 10th December respectively. The series is to be held at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
