Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc has revealed that despite getting huge remuneration in the IPL, playing Test cricket is still the top priority for him. Starc was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) team in the IPL 2024 auction for Rs 24.75 crore and with this he became the most expensive player in history.
Mitchell Starc was quoted by The Sydney Morning Herald on Sunday as saying, “I have always given priority to Test cricket and international cricket. I spend my time outside of cricket with Alyssa and my family and working on keeping my body in shape for Australian cricket. Red-ball cricket is still top of mind for me. My body will probably tell me about Test cricket (being over for me). “Before I want it.”
Starc said that the quality of cricket he will play in the IPL will help him prepare for the T20 World Cup.
Starc further said, “I have said it before, the money is definitely good, and it is this year too, but I have always prioritized international cricket and I think it has helped my game. The quality cricket in IPL will help in preparations for next year's T20 World Cup.
Let us tell you that Starc last played in IPL 2015. He has played 27 IPL matches and taken 34 wickets at an average of 20.38.
