Ravi Bishnoi's reign ends within a few days, Adil Rashid becomes number one bowler in T-20

Just a few days ago, Indian leg spinner Ravi Bishnoi had become the world's number one T20 bowler but his number one position has now been snatched away from him. In the latest T20 rankings released by the ICC, England's leg spinner Adil Rashid On Wednesday, 20 December, he became the world's number one T-20 bowler. Earlier both Bishnoi and Rashid were jointly at the first position but now Rashid has overtaken them.

On the basis of his good performance in England's current T-20 series against West Indies, Rashid reached the first position with 715 rating points. In four matches, he has taken seven wickets at an economy rate of 6.43 and Rashid has also played an important role in England's comeback in the five-match series. Rashid has become the second English player after Graeme Swann to achieve the number 1 ranking among bowlers. Almost a decade before Rashid, Swann was England's top-ranked bowler.

Earlier, he also became the third English player after Eoin Morgan and Jos Buttler to play 100 T20 Internationals. As far as ranking is concerned, Rashid Khan has slipped to second place and has 692 rating points. Bishnoi had become the number 1 bowler after winning the Player of the Series award against Australia, but after Rashid became number one, he has reached the third position with 685 rating points. Wanindu Hasaranga, Mahish Theekshana, Akeel Hosein and Fazalhaq Farooqui are placed fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh respectively.

However, the interesting thing is that currently the world number one T-20 bowler did not find any buyer in the 2024 auction for the Indian Premier League (IPL). He had registered in the auction at a base price of Rs 2 crore, but no team showed interest in him. In 2023, Rashid played for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), who later released him. If we talk about Rashid's T-20 career, then in 279 T-20 matches, Rashid has taken 314 wickets at an economy rate of 7.48 and has taken four wickets eight times.
