Sarfaraz created a stir on African soil, scored a century in just 61 balls

Young Sarfaraz Khan has created a stir before India's two-match Test series against South Africa. By scoring a century in just 61 balls during a three-day intra-squad practice match in Pretoria, he once again showed the selectors that he deserves a place in the Test team, but even after his brilliant innings, his selection is not guaranteed.

In the India vs India 'A' match, Sarfaraz showed an aggressive attitude from the beginning and hit shots all around the ground and scored a stormy century in just 61 balls. Sarfaraz Khan has made his mark with his consistently good performances in domestic cricket. Despite scoring 3657 runs in 41 matches at an average of 71.70 in first-class cricket, he has not been able to find a place in the Indian team even though great players like Sunil Gavaskar have advocated for giving him a chance.

Sarfaraz Khan remains unsold in IPL 2024 auction

Sarfaraz Khan may have scored a lot of runs in domestic cricket but he has not been able to make a splash in the IPL. He has failed to perform consistently. Sarfaraz scored just 53 runs in four matches in IPL 2023 for Delhi Capitals and that was the reason why he was released by Delhi ahead of the recently concluded mini-auction in Dubai. Despite a base price of Rs 20 lakh, he could not attract any bids during the event.

At the same time, if we talk about the two-match Test series between India and South Africa, then this series will start with the Boxing Day Test at the SuperSport Park in Centurion from 26 to 30 December. The three-match T20 series on this tour ended in a 1–1 draw, while the Men in Blue won the ODI series 2–1. In such a situation, it will be interesting to see whether India can defeat the African team in the Test series or not. After improving their track record in England and Australia, India will be looking to win their first Test series on African soil but it will not be easy.
