On Wednesday, 20 December, the 9th match of the Big Bash League (BBL) was played between Perth Scorchers and Hobart Hurricanes, which Scorchers won by 9 wickets. To win this match, Scorchers had a target of 173 runs, which they easily achieved by losing 1 wicket. Of course, Hurricanes had to face defeat in this match but their fast bowler Chris Jordan left no stone unturned to win the hearts of the fans or we can say that Jordan was the only positive thing for Hurricanes in this match.
Batting first, Jordan scored the joint fourth fastest half-century in the history of the Big Bash League. Playing for the Hobart Hurricanes, Jordan scored his half-century off 17 balls against the Perth Scorchers at the Optus Stadium in Perth. Before getting out, Jordan played an inning of 59 runs with the help of 6 fours and 5 sixes in 20 balls and during this his strike rate was more than 295, which can be estimated as to how he created a ruckus.
Apart from Jordan, Chris Gayle also holds the record of scoring the fastest half-century in 12 balls in 2016. Daniel Christian and Tom Banton scored half-centuries off 15 and 16 balls respectively in the 2020 edition of the T20 league. Apart from Jordan, Ben Cutting (2019) and Nicholas Pooran (2020) have also scored half-centuries in 17 balls. Tim Ludeman, Chris Lynn and Brendon McCullum are at the fifth position with half-centuries off 18 balls.
This half-century scored by Jordan is the third highest score for a batsman ranked No. 8 or below in BBL history. However, even this stormy innings of Jordan proved to be insufficient for his team's victory. The only wicket that Perth Scorchers lost was taken by Jordan, hence he did not get anyone's support neither in batting nor in bowling, which was the reason that his team had to face defeat.
