Jason Sangha takes a brilliant catch at third slip during the 2023 Sheffield Shield match between New South Wales and Tasmania in Sydney. Doran played a fighting inning of 43 runs in 117 balls before getting out but perhaps he would regret because if there was some other fielder in place of Sangha, he might have been saved. The incident occurred in the 49th over of Tasmania's first innings when Chris Tremain bowled a short ball which took Doran by surprise. The ball took the edge of the bat and was going between third slip and gully but Sangha became superman and reached the ball.
A clinical all-round performance helped New South Wales beat Tasmania by 74 runs in the Sheffield Shield on Thursday. Batting first, New South Wales scored 224 runs in 63.5 overs, thanks to half-centuries from Oliver Davis and captain Moises Henriques. Davis remained unbeaten on 81 from 115, which included one six and 12 fours. Meanwhile, Henriques scored 54 off 80, which included one six and eight fours.
In the second innings, New South Wales were all out for 118 and Tasmania were out for just 68 while chasing 143. Chris Tremain took six wickets, while Jackson Bird took four wickets. With this win, New South Wales moved up to third place in the 2023 Sheffield Shield points table with two wins from six matches. Despite the loss, Tasmania remained on top with three wins in six matches.
