Every youth who cracks the Civil Services Examination is remembered as a great example. Those who crack UPSC Civil Service exam are selected for important posts like IAS, IPS and IFS. Those posted on this post are responsible for everything from law and order to taking the new schemes of the government to the people. After being selected for the post of IAS, one has to work on many responsible posts.

The first post of IAS

Most people understand IAS to mean District Magistrate i.e. DM. However, let us tell you that after cracking UPSC, candidates first have to go for training at Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy and Administration (LBSNAA). After this they are allotted cadre and service. After being selected for IAS, one has to work in a ministry under the Central Government for 3 months. After this the first appointment is made to the post of SDM or Assistant Commissioner. In this one has to work for 1 to 4 years.

Biggest post of IAS

The highest post of an IAS officer is Additional Chief Secretary, then Chief Secretary and finally Cabinet Secretary of India. This post can also be called the boss of an IAS officer. After being selected on this post, one has to retire after serving for 2 years. Let us tell you that an IAS officer gets this post after 37 years of service in his career.

What is the salary?

Talking about salary, when an IAS is selected as SDM, ASP or Assistant Commissioner, his basic salary is Rs 56,100 on the basis of level 10. Apart from this, benefits of other government allowances are also available. At the same time, after being selected for the highest post i.e. Cabinet Secretary of India, the basic salary is Rs 2,50,000.
