Cancer is still a fatal disease, whose cases are increasing every year in India. Patients also die due to cancer. There was a time when cancer occurred after the age of 50, but now even children are becoming victims of it. Recently, a case has come to light where a 10 year old girl was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. The case is of 10 year old Zainab, a resident of Iraq. Zainab was suffering from lower abdominal pain, swelling and loss of appetite for a long time. When this problem was occurring for a long time, the girl got examined. Investigation revealed that she had ovarian cancer. She underwent surgery and doctors also advised chemotherapy, but the girl's parents did not allow it citing her young age.

Days passed and the girl's condition started worsening. Seeing the continuously worsening situation, the family brought him to India. Here the girl was admitted to Sanar International Hospital in Gurugram. Here all the tests of the girl were done and the doctors said that chemotherapy is very important to save the life of the girl. Zainab completed 4 cycles of chemotherapy in the hospital, but there was no relief and the tumor persisted.

repeat surgery

The condition of 10 year old Zainab was continuously worsening. In view of this, the doctors decided to undergo surgery again. Surgery was planned after PET scan. This surgery was done under the leadership of Dr. Archit Pandit, Head and Director of the Surgical Oncology Department. During the surgery, Dr. Archit Pandit's team noticed that in the previous surgery, the left ovary was not removed. Because of this, the girl's cancer started spreading to other parts of the body. There was also a fear of cancer developing in the colon and other parts of the body. But this risk was eliminated by surgery

The surgery was very difficult

Dr. Archit told that this type of surgery in children is very difficult. There is especially a challenge in preserving fertility. By performing surgery, the team not only removed the cancerous ovary, but also removed cancerous masses from other parts of the uterus. The girl's condition is now stable and she is out of danger.

Why did the disease occur?

According to doctors, cancer can occur even at a young age. This happens due to genetic reasons. In this, the risk of cancer can pass from one generation to the next.
