According to the legend of Ramayana, when Lord Shri Ram decided to leave this mountain and move ahead, the mountain expressed his concern and told him that the importance of Chitrakoot was only till Shri Ram stayed there, and after he left from there After that no one will ask about that place. Hearing this, Lord Shri Ram blessed the mountain that whoever completes the circumambulation of this mountain, his wish will definitely be fulfilled and the journey to Chitrakoot Dham will also be considered completed only after circumambulating this mountain.

This is how the parikrama starts
At present, 5 km of Kamadgiri mountain. The long parikrama also begins with a dip in Ramghat. It is believed that Shri Ram used to take bath in this ghat during his residence in Chitrakoot and he also offered Pind Daan of his father Dasharatha at this ghat situated on the banks of Mandikini river. People come closer to spirituality by attending the evening aarti at this ghat. There is a temple of Lord Kamtanath on the way to Parikrama. The belief here is that Kamtanath was a form of Lord Ram. Along with Kamtanath, Kamdagiri Devi is also worshiped in the temple.
Lord Brahma had performed the Yagya.
Chitrakoot is considered to be the best center of spiritual and religious faith. This is the land where the three gods Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh reside. Lord Vishnu spent his exile here in the form of Lord Ram, while Lord Brahma performed a yagya here for the creation of the universe and the Shivalinga that emerged from that yagya is still present as the guardian of the religious city Chitrakoot.
