Does your data become secure after Aadhaar locking? Know how much scope for fraud there is after this

In today's time, people have become more alert about data. A major reason behind this is that incidents of fraud keep happening to people every day. If you also want to protect yourself from those cyber crimes, then this news is for you.

A person is most concerned about the security and privacy of his data. Therefore, UIDAI provides a system to lock and unlock the Aadhaar number (UID) to enhance the security of the Aadhaar number. Aadhaar users can lock their UID using the official website of UIDAI (www.myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in) or mAadhaar app. Once locked, they cannot use OTP and other verification processes. For that, first the Aadhaar has to be unlocked again. It works exactly the same way, if you lock your mobile then you are not able to use it without unlocking it. That means after this no person can do any process without unlocking Aadhaar.

This is the process of locking/unlocking

To lock UID, the person must have a 16 digit VID number. If he/she does not already have a VID, they can get the VID number using SMS or UIDAI website (www.myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in).

After that one has to go to UIDAI website (https://resident.uidai.gov.in/aadhaar-lockunlock).

After that, you have to go to My Aadhaar page and fill the personal details required there along with UID number and generate OTP.

After verifying the OTP, the person's Aadhar card gets locked.

Let us tell you that here the same process has to be done for unlocking also. One has to go to the official website and fill personal details along with UID number. Then after OTP verification, the Aadhar card gets unlocked again. This service is also available on mAadhaar service app.

What if I forget my ID?

If someone forgets his VID and wants to lock the UID, he gets an option. He can use SMS service to get 16 digit VID and then he gets the VID on the registered mobile number. For that he will have to send SMS to 1947 from Aadhaar registered mobile number. RVID Space Last 4 or 8 digits of the UID. For example- RVID 1234.
