Anil Kapoor said this

Anil Kapoor said that he (Sandeep Reddy Vanga) could have gone to anyone for the roles of Bobby Deol, Ranbir and me. Anil said, “They took Prem Chopra, they took Shakti Kapoor, they took Suresh Oberoi…look at their faces…how much glow they have.”

Anil says, “All the boys (brothers from Ranbir Kapoor's village) in the film are new. Look, hiring new people is the trend these days. Is it a trend these days or not, this face has become a bit old, let's get someone new. Hey idiot, old meaning, it will break if it comes on screen.”

toxic masculinity

This film of Ranbir has also been accused of being anti-women. It was also alleged that it showed toxic masculinity i.e. the man was shown dominating the woman and she was shown to be of second class. On these allegations, Ranbir Kapoor said, “After the release of the film, a good debate started on toxic masculinity. This is a good thing.”

Ranbir said, “Cinema at least started the conversation. If something is wrong and you show that it is wrong and there is no discussion on it in the society, then we will never realize it.” He said that the character we are playing is just a character...but as an audience you decide that this is wrong.

Animal was released last year and this film created a stir at the box office. The film did a business of more than Rs 550 crore at the domestic box office alone. There was a lot of controversy regarding the film but people also showered a lot of love on its action and emotion.
