A Russian military transport plane carrying dozens of Ukrainian prisoners of war has crashed. 65 Ukrainian prisoners died in it. It was a Russian Ilyushin IL-76 military transport plane which crashed in the Belgorod region of Russia. At the time of the accident, there were 65 Ukrainian prisoners captured from the Ukraine border in this plane. Apart from this there were six crew members and thirty escorts.
News agency AFP has confirmed this quoting the Russian Defense Ministry. No information has been received yet about why and how the accident happened. There has been no news of any search for the crew members. The statement issued so far by the Russian Defense Ministry talks about the accident. The IL-76 military transport aircraft is designed to carry troops, cargo and military equipment. It usually has a crew of five people and can carry up to 90 passengers.

A video posted on messenger app Telegram by Baza, a channel linked to Russian security services, shows a large plane falling towards the ground and exploding in a huge fireball. Regional Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said on social media that he had has changed its program due to the “incident” and investigators and emergency workers have already arrived at a site in the Korochansky district. The Kremlin said it was investigating the reports.
