Giving information on Tuesday, Larsen & Toubro i.e. L&T said that its construction arm has received a 'mega order' for the construction of 508 route kilometer high-speed electrification system for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train Project.

The company said that this order has been received from a recognized Japanese agency. L&T Construction's Railway Strategic Business Group has won a 'mega order' for the construction of 508 route km high-speed electrification system for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed ​​Rail (MAHSR) project, the company said in a filing to BSE. This electrification system will help trains travel at speeds up to 320 kilometers per hour.

The company said that the project is being financed by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and implemented by the authorized Japanese agency working on behalf of National High Speed ​​Rail Corporation Limited. L&T has not disclosed the exact value of the contract, but it counts an order as 'mega' when its value is between Rs 10,000-15,000 crore. Earlier on January 11, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav had said that the progress of Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train Project is quite satisfactory. However, when asked by journalists, the minister refused to give any time limit for the completion of the project.

Vaishnav said that the Bullet Train Corridor will integrate big economic centers like Mumbai, Thane, Vapi, Surat, Vadodara, Anand and Ahmedabad.
