The company has got the work of the bullet train project from Mumbai to Ahmedabad. Giving information on Tuesday, Larsen & Toubro i.e. L&T said that its construction arm has received a 'mega order' for the construction of 508 route kilometer high-speed electrification system for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train Project.
The company said that this order has been received from a recognized Japanese agency. L&T Construction's Railway Strategic Business Group has won a 'mega order' for the construction of 508 route km high-speed electrification system for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) project, the company said in a filing to BSE. This electrification system will help trains travel at speeds up to 320 kilometers per hour.

The company said that the project is being financed by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and implemented by the authorized Japanese agency working on behalf of National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited. L&T has not disclosed the exact value of the contract, but it counts an order as 'mega' when its value is between Rs 10,000-15,000 crore. Earlier on January 11, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav had said that the progress of Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train Project is quite satisfactory. However, when asked by journalists, the minister refused to give any time limit for the completion of the project.

This project between Mumbai and Ahmedabad is a total of 508 kilometers long. In which viaduct has been built on a length of 272 kilometers. Vaishnav said, there are eight rivers on the route and bridges have been built on five of them. The minister reiterated that the time limit for completing the 50 km long segment between Surat and Bilimora is 2026 and the work is going on as per schedule. Vaishnav said that the Bullet Train Corridor will integrate big economic centers like Mumbai, Thane, Vapi, Surat, Vadodara, Anand and Ahmedabad. Which will be better for the economic growth of the country.
Under this project announced in 2017, the country's first high-speed train corridor will be built between Mumbai and Ahmedabad, in which bullet trains will run at a speed of 320 km per hour. In 2017, the National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited, which initiated the project, had given a deadline of 2022 to complete the project, however, the deadline was later extended.

After this news, there is an increase in the shares of Larsen & Toubro. The company's shares are trading at Rs 3571.40 with an increase of about one percent at 12:53 pm. Whereas during the trading session the company's shares also reached Rs 3588. The company's shares had reached a 52-week high of Rs 3,605.55 during the trading session on January 15. At present the market cap of the company is more than Rs 4.91 lakh crore.
