African players are making a lot of noise in the SA20 league being played in South Africa. During the 22nd match of the tournament played between Durban Supergiants and Paarl Royals, Durban's batsmen wreaked havoc with the bat. In particular, Heinrich Klaasen hit the fastest half-century in the history of the tournament by hitting sixes.
Klaasen made the record of the fastest half-century by scoring a half-century in just 16 balls. Earlier, the record of scoring the fastest fifty in SA20 was held in the name of Donavan Ferreira. Ferreira had achieved this feat in 18 balls but now this record is in the name of Klaasen. Klaasen entertained the fans by hitting 2 fours and 6 sixes in his innings of 50 runs in 17 balls.
It was due to Klaasen's innings that the Durban Supergiants team scored 208 runs by losing 7 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs and when the Paarl Royals team came out to chase this target, he was out of the match in the very beginning. Royals' batting proved to be a complete flop and the entire team was all out after scoring just 83 runs in 13.2 overs. In this way Supergiants won the match by 125 runs.
With this win, the Supergiants also became the first team to qualify for the playoffs in the second edition of the SA20. Klaasen is going to play for Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2024 and the dangerous form he is in can change the fortunes of his team in the upcoming season. In such a situation, it will be interesting to see how the Hyderabad team uses Klaasen.
