He has received the Indian-UK Achievers award in London, which is given keeping in mind the success of Indian students who have studied abroad. This honor was started last year by the National Indian Students and Alumni Union in partnership with the British Council in India and the Department of Business and Trade of the UK Government. Along with Zoya Akhtar, British Indian chef Asma Khan has also received this honour.
In this event, Zoya said that she started writing from a very young age, because I grew up in a family of writers. She also said, “I truly believe that literature and sociology have helped me a lot in making films, writing and telling stories.”
Working as a director for 15 years
Let us tell you that Zoya Akhtar has been working as a director in Bollywood for the last 15 years. The first film made under his direction was 'Luck by Chance', which was released in the year 2009. His brother Farhan Akhtar and actress Konkona Sen Sharma were in this picture. Stars like Hrithik Roshan, Rishi Kapoor, Sanjay Kapoor were also in this film. After that, along with Farhan and Hrithik, she brought another film in 2011, in which Abhay Deol was also there. The name of the film is 'Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara'.
