Both the stars are considered a big part of Hindi cinema. Both of them also worked together in Ramesh Sippy's film Sholay, released in 1975. When this film was released on screen, people started swearing about the friendship between Dharmendra and Amitabh. Both the names 'Jai and Veeru' became famous in every household. This was the film whose huge success led to the tag of superstar being attached to Amitabh Bachchan's name. It took Ramesh Sippy a long time of two and a half years to make this film. While making this picture, the film team and stars had to go through many different incidents. Once Dharmendra became so angry during the shooting that he even fired a real bullet at Amitabh Bachchan.

Actually, all the characters in this iconic picture were liked a lot. Be it the character of Basanti or Thakur. But Jai and Veeru were the life of the film Sholay. The story of the film was on their friendship. The songs and dialogues of the film were also liked a lot. But during a scene in the film, something happened that everyone was in distress. Actually there was a scene in the last part of the film. Where Gabbar along with his goons prepares to fight Thakur. To bring life to this scene, the director had also ordered some real bullets.
There was a scene in the climax of Sholay where Dharmendra had to fire fake bullets. When this scene was being shot, the director was not getting a perfect shot. Due to which he was repeatedly getting scenes shot by Dharmendra. However, the actor started getting angry due to repeated takes. When Dharmendra was asked to start the action again for the fourth time, he unknowingly loaded the real bullet kept in his gun and fired it at Amitabh. Amitabh Bachchan was lucky and the bullet passed near his ear. Big B escaped death. This story was narrated by Amitabh Bachchan himself on the sets of 'KBG'.
