ICC has announced former T20 World Cup winner Yuvraj Singh as the ambassador for the upcoming edition. The left-handed all-rounder played an important role in the Indian team winning the T20 World Cup in 2007 and he also made a tremendous record of hitting six sixes in an over. During that time, Yuvi also scored a half-century in 12 balls, which remained the record for the fastest half-century in the shortest format for a long time.
It is a matter of pride for me to be the ambassador of the tournament- Yuvraj Singh
On being made the ICC ambassador, Yuvraj Singh said, 'I have some good memories of the T20 World Cup, which also includes hitting six sixes in an over, so it is very exciting to be a part of it. This will be the biggest event ever organized. It is a matter of pride for me to be a part of it.
He further said, 'India's clash against Pakistan in New York is going to be one of the biggest sporting events in the world this year, so it is a privilege to be a part of it and see the world's best players playing in a new stadium. '
ICC General Manager Claire Furlong said that it is an honor to appoint Yuvraj Singh as the Men's T20 World Cup 2024 Ambassador. The 6 sixes he hit in an over in 2007 is one of the special moments of the T20 World Cup. Apart from Yuvraj Singh, Chris Gayle and Usain Bolt have also been made ambassadors for this tournament.
