18 lakh SIM cards will be closed in 15 days, may your mobile number also be included?

The government has prepared a big action plan to stop online fraud. DoT has directed telecom companies to block more than 18 lakh mobile numbers. Telecom companies can block these mobile numbers in the next 15 days.

The central government is in full action mode. The government has made a new plan to stop online fraud. Under which the government is going to close about 18 lakh SIM and mobile connections in the next 15 days. This will be the first time that the government is going to shut down mobile and SIM connections in such large numbers. In such a situation, it is very important for you to know whether your number is included in these 18 lakh mobile connections…

On May 9, the Telecom Department had directed telecom companies like Jio, Airtel and Vi to close 28,220 mobile bands. Besides, instructions were also given to re-verify about 20 lakh mobile connections. The reason behind this is online fraud happening through mobile handsets.

Due to this reason SIM cards will be closed

The Modi government at the Center has decided to ban SIM cards to remove cyber crime and online fraud from the country. Under the plan, online fraudsters will be identified with the help of government and private agencies. According to the report, telecom companies will reverify the mobile connection and SIM card, after which they can block them. Telecom companies have been given the task to ban fake mobiles and SIM cards in the next 15 days.

Cases of mobile fraud increased

According to ET report, cyber crimes committed through mobile phones are increasing rapidly in the country. According to NCRP, there will be a loss of about Rs 10,319 crore due to digital financial fraud in the year 2023. 694,000 complaints have been registered in this matter.

Such fraud is being executed

According to the report, SIMs from different regions are used for fraud. Last year, 37,000 SIM cards involved in cyber fraud were blocked. During this period, about 17 million mobile connections have been closed. Apart from this, 1,86,000 handsets have been blocked.

Your number may also be switched off?

Nowadays, with the use of technology, incidents like SIM cloning are also coming to the fore, which are used to commit online fraud. In such a situation, the question arises whether your SIM can also be switched off. So the answer is no, the government has prepared this action plan only to take action against the people involved in activities like cyber crime and digital fraud. Along with switching off the mobile handset of such people, the SIM card will be blocked.
