3 Teams who made it to the IPL playoffs with a spectacular comeback: IPL is the most successful and expensive T20 league in the world, whose level is much higher than other leagues. Many greats have been a part of this league. However, despite this, many of these players could not taste the taste of winning the trophy.

There are some teams which have been a part of this league since the first season of the tournament but have not been able to taste the trophy yet. The name of Royal Challengers Bangalore is also included in this. RCB succeeded in qualifying for the playoffs for the ninth time in the history of the tournament by defeating Chennai Super Kings by 27 runs in the 68th match of IPL 2024 on Saturday. Seeing the kind of performance of RCB in the first phase of the league stage, no one expected that they would be successful in qualifying.

In this article, we will discuss about those 3 occasions when the team made a spectacular comeback and qualified for the playoffs.

3.Mumbai Indians

In IPL 2014, the Mumbai Indians team under the leadership of captain Rohit Sharma was successful in reaching the playoff round, but this journey was not so easy for them. In the first phase of the league stage, Mumbai had to face defeat in 5 consecutive matches. After this he won two matches.

Even in the second leg of the league stage, MI had lost two of their first three matches. After this, Mumbai made a comeback and kept the hope of qualifying for the playoffs alive by winning 4 consecutive matches. However, to qualify they had to defeat Rajasthan Royals by a huge margin in their last league match. In that match, Aditya Tare from Mumbai side helped the team qualify by hitting a six. After this, MI was out of the tournament after losing to Chennai Super Kings in the eliminator match.

2. Royal Challengers Bangalore

In this season of IPL, RCB got only one win in the first phase of the league stage. After this, RCB made a tremendous comeback and qualified for the playoffs by winning 6 consecutive matches in the second phase of the league stage.

1. Kolkata Knight Riders

In IPL 2014, the Gautam Gambhir-led team was successful in winning only 2 out of 7 matches in the first phase of the league stage. After this, KKR won all its 7 matches in the second phase of the league stage and qualified for the playoffs. After this, KKR also captured the trophy by defeating Punjab Kings in Qualifier 1 and the final.
