Before the last phase of the Lok Sabha elections, the country's Home Minister Amit Shah spoke candidly on many issues in an exclusive interview with TV9 Bharatvarsh. While responding to the opposition's allegations against the BJP regarding the Constitution, he put the opposition in the dock. He gave the example of West Bengal and Karnataka for this.
'If BJP gets 400 seats, it will change the constitution' In response to this allegation of the opposition, Amit Shah said that in the 2014 elections itself, the people of the country had given this power to PM Narendra Modi. The opposition has no agenda. They do not even know how the constitution will change. They are talking about reservation in the name of the constitution.
"I promise I'll never let that happen again"
Putting the opposition in the dock, Shah said that they blame us but the truth is that they have already done it in Bengal, Karnataka and Hyderabad. I promise the people of the country that this will never be allowed to happen. As long as there is even one BJP MP in the Parliament, we will not let reservation be touched.
'Those Muslims who are backward will continue to get reservation'
Talking on the issue of 'Muslim reservation', Amit Shah said that the Constitution does not allow reservation on the basis of religion. That is why we have talked about ending Muslim reservation. Those Muslims who are backward will continue to get reservation. Shah also cornered the Congress on the issue of EVM. He said that the Congress raises questions on voting percentage and EVM. But, when they won in Himachal Pradesh and Telangana, they did not say anything on EVM.
'Promises were fulfilled quickly and with a bang'
He said that Mamata Banerjee also formed the government in West Bengal. When they win, they do not mention EVMs. They start shouting even before losing. They blame EVMs. Congress had promised women in Himachal that they will give them an allowance of Rs 1500. They had promised to buy milk from cattle rearers at Rs 100 per liter. Not a single promise was fulfilled. All their promises were shattered in no time.
