Go First Airline has suffered a major setback. Aviation regulator DGCA has canceled the registration of all 54 aircraft of Go First Airline. This has brought relief to the lessees. Recently, Delhi High Court had ordered to cancel the registration of 54 aircraft of the airline. This step has been taken after the order of Delhi High Court last Friday. Delhi High Court had ordered that registration cancellation has to be done within five working days. Due to this, there was a need to provide relief to the lessees on various other issues related to the stuck aircraft.
Go First airline stopped flights last year
Both Tata's Air India and financially strong IndiGo have approached lessors to buy around 15 Airbus A320 family planes. They can be made capable of flying relatively quickly. The remaining aircraft will have to wait for replacement of their damaged engines/parts from Pratt & Whitney. He has been unable to provide them to Indigo for several months. Due to this, more than 75 aircraft of Indigo are standing. Let us tell you, Go First Airline had stopped operations last year on May 2, 2023 and the company came to the ground.
What did Delhi HC say?
Justice Tara Vitasta Ganju of Delhi High Court had last Friday given permission to the lessors for maintenance of the long standing aircraft. Provided that they are not de-registered and exported as per Indian law. The court had said, 'Respondent DGCA and Airports Authority of India (AAI) will assist the petitioner lessees and provide them access to the airports….'
Go First was banned for this reason
Go Air and the resolution professionals (RPs) of the airline have been banned from accessing, entering or operating any aircraft. Besides, removal and replacement of accessories, spare parts, documents and records from the aircraft has also been prohibited.
