Actually, it was reported that the England players who have been selected for the T20 World Cup will not be available in the IPL playoffs starting from May 21. England players will leave for their country even before the end of the league stage matches because the England team has to play a 4-match T20 series against Pakistan from May 22. The England Cricket Board has ensured that all the 15 players selected for the T20 World Cup and Pakistan series will not be able to take part in the IPL playoffs.
However, now BCCI has taken a big step in this regard. According to Times of India, BCCI is talking to the England Board about this so that England players are available for the IPL playoffs.
If English players are available for the playoffs, the biggest benefit will be to teams like Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders. Jos Buttler in Rajasthan Royals and Phil Salt in KKR are part of the IPL. Both these teams are almost certain to go to the playoffs. If Salt and Butler go to England before the playoffs, then it will be a big loss for KKR and Rajasthan. Both the batsmen have batted stormily this IPL season.
Moeen Ali is playing continuously in Chennai Super Kings but CSK has Rachin Ravindra as his replacement. While many English players are playing in Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore, it is impossible for these two teams to make it to the last 4. Apart from this, it will not have any impact on teams like Sunrisers Hyderabad, Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants.
