Punjab Kings got a tremendous start after winning the toss and batting first. The opening pair of Atharva Tayde and Prabhsimran Singh added 97 runs for the first wicket. This partnership was broken by T Natarajan and Atharva was out in the 10th over after scoring 46 runs in 27 balls. Prabhasimran continued his stormy batting and along with Riley Rousseau took the score beyond 150.
Prabhasimran played an innings of 71 runs in 45 balls with the help of seven fours and four sixes. Shashank Singh could not do anything and was run out on a personal score of 2. Rousseau missed his half-century and scored 48 runs in 24 balls with his bat. In the end, captain Jitesh Sharma also played a brilliant inning and scored unbeaten 32 runs in 15 balls, taking the score beyond 200. T Natarajan took maximum two wickets for Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Sunrisers Hyderabad had a poor start while chasing the target and Travis Head, who came as an impact player, was out on the very first ball without opening his account. However, his partners Abhishek Sharma and Rahul Tripathi batted stormily, helping the team complete 50 runs in four overs. There was a partnership of 72 runs in 30 balls between this pair. Rahul scored 33 runs in 18 balls. At the same time, Abhishek scored a brilliant half-century and scored 66 runs in 28 balls.
Hyderabad team completed 150 runs in 12 overs but lost the wicket of Nitish Kumar Reddy in the 14th over, who was dismissed after scoring 37 runs in 25 balls.
