Devdutt Padikkal was out on zero on the very first ball for the Lucknow team who came to bat first. There was an important partnership of 48 runs between Rahul and Marcus Stoinis for the second wicket. The wicket of Stoinis (28 runs) was in the name of Piyush Chawla. Lucknow's innings came to a halt after losing 2 wickets within 50 runs. After a good start, Nicholas Puran pulled out the team which was in trouble and as soon as he arrived, he started playing quick shots. Nicholas Pooran played a stormy inning of 85 runs with the help of 5 fours and 8 sixes.
At the other end, KL Rahul also completed his half-century. Rahul faced 41 balls and scored 55 runs in which he hit 3 fours and 3 sixes. In the last overs, there was an important partnership of 36 runs in 17 balls between Krunal Pandya and Ayush Badoni. Krunal scored 12 runs on 7 balls and Badoni scored 22 runs on 10 balls. Piyush Chawla and Nuwan Thushara took 3-3 wickets for Mumbai Indians.
Rohit Sharma scored a stormy half-century
In response to the target of 215 runs, Rohit Sharma and Dewald Brevis made a stormy start. Together they added 88 runs for the first wicket. Brevis played an important inning of 23 runs.
