Manoj Bajpayee Rejected Role In Devdas: Veteran Hindi cinema actor Manoj Bajpayee has completed 30 years in Bollywood and these days he is in the news among fans for his 100th film 'Bhaiya Ji', which was released recently. The film is getting a good response from the audience. Meanwhile, in one of his interviews, the actor spoke openly about his professional life as well as personal life. Apart from this, he told why he rejected a big role in filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Devdas'.
'Devdas' directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali is included in the list of best Hindi films, in which actors like Shahrukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai, Madhuri Dixit and Jackie Shroff were seen. This is a romantic drama film, which is very much liked. Recently in an interview, Manoj Bajpayee revealed that he was offered the role of 'Chunnilal' in the film, but he refused saying that he wanted to play the role of 'Devdas'. After this, this role was offered to Jackie Shroff.

In an interview with Sushant Sinha, Manoj was asked, 'Has he ever turned down a film that later turned out to be a big hit'? He said, 'Yes, I was offered Jackie Shroff's role in 'Devdas', but I refused it immediately. I told Sanjay, 'Sanjay, yaar, meri toh hase se chachcha thi Devdas karne ki'. That film became a superhit, but I regret leaving it. I wanted to play the character of 'Devdas' since my theatre days, ever since I saw Dilip Kumar's film or read the book, but I never felt bad'.

'Devdas' directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali was released in 2002, which was a huge hit at the box office. This film was based on Sharat Chandra Chattopadhyay's novel published in 1917. Shahrukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai and Madhuri Dixit were seen in the lead roles in the film. Earlier in 1955, Bimal Roy had made a film based on this novel, in which actors like Dilip Kumar, Vaijayanti Mala and Suchitra Sen were seen. This film was also a huge hit at the box office and earned the highest amount.
