Meeting on a gay dating app, Kanpur IIT campus and a fashion designer from Mumbai… 16 years later, the verdict came in the murder case

 


The court's verdict has come after 16 years in the murder case of Mumbai fashion designer Aadesh Bajpayee. The murderer was finally punished for his crime. Former IIT Kanpur student Rahul Verma, who murdered Aadesh, has been sentenced to life imprisonment by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) special judge Uroj Mishra. The court has also imposed a fine of Rs 75 thousand on the culprit.

Aadesh was a fashion designer in Mumbai. He met Rahul Verma through a gay dating app. Rahul Verma studied in IIT Kanpur. On August 4, 2008, Aadesh came to Lucknow to meet Rahul. After this Aadesh went to his maternal uncle's house in Kanpur. Cousin brother Vivek Trivedi again left the order at Mulganj intersection on 10 August 2008. After this the order disappeared. Even after a lot of searching nothing could be found about him.

Vivek then called on 13 August 2008 and informed Aadesh's family about his disappearance. Five days later, Aadesh's father Surya Kumar reached Kanpur. He met the then SSP. On the orders of the SSP, a case of kidnapping of Aadesh was registered at the Moolganj police station. The police then started the investigation.

Male skeleton found in IIT campus

Meanwhile, a human skeleton was found in the IIT campus on 23 August 2008. The skeleton could not be identified. The security officer of IIT had lodged a report in Kalyanpur police station. The skeleton was sent for postmortem. When the case seemed to be cooling down, the victim Surya Kumar appealed to the High Court for justice. After the court's order, on October 8, 2010, orders were passed to hand over the investigation of the case to the CBI. After this, the CBI started the investigation and the case was revealed layer by layer. Evidences and witnesses were collected and all were presented in the court.

44 witnesses, 66 documents, 16 evidence

CBI presented 44 witnesses, 66 documents and 16 evidence in the court to punish the murderer. In the same sequence, CBI conducted DNA test of the dead body found in IIT, which revealed that the skeleton belonged to the order. Collected evidence from mobile phone details and app history. After this Rahul Verma was arrested in January 2012. During interrogation it was revealed that Aadesh had come to Lucknow from Mumbai to meet Rahul. From there Rahul took Aadesh to IIT Kanpur and murdered him there. After this, his body was burnt by adding chemicals to destroy the evidence.
