Monsoon reached Kerala before time, rain is happening in many places, moved towards the northeast

Monsoon has arrived in Kerala ahead of schedule. On May 15, the weather office had declared the onset of monsoon in Kerala by May 31. The normal monsoon onset date for Kerala is June 1 and for Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Nagaland, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Manipur and Assam is June 5.

Monsoon has arrived in Kerala ahead of schedule this time. It is raining in many places. Due to cyclone Remal, the southwest monsoon reached the Kerala coast and parts of the Northeast on Thursday, a day before the weather office forecast. Meteorologists said that the cyclone that hit West Bengal and Bangladesh on Sunday has pulled the monsoon flow towards the Bay of Bengal.

Scientists say this could be one of the reasons for the premature onset of monsoon in the Northeast. The India Meteorological Department said, the southwest monsoon has entered Kerala and advanced to most parts of Northeast India today, May 30, 2024. On May 15, the weather office had announced the onset of monsoon in Kerala by May 31.
