India is ready to sign an agreement with Iran to take over the management of Chabahar port for the next 10 years. India has agreed to take over Chabahar Port for the next 10 years. Indian Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal can leave for Iran on Monday to sign the agreement. There is also a plan to connect Chabahar with the International North South Transport Corridor which will directly connect India to Russia via Iran.

The port is seen as India's key connectivity link to Afghanistan, Central Asia and the larger Eurasian region, which will help it maintain an eye on Pakistan's Gwadar port as well as China's Belt and Road Initiative. There is a plan to connect Chabahar to the International North South Transport Corridor (INSTC) which connects India to Russia via Iran.
