Although Sanjay has not said anything about trolling in his statement, but Bhansali shared how Sharmin was repeatedly asking him to underplay her role. Sanjay says that when Sharmin asked him 'should I underplay', he replied 'are you thinking that I will ask you to overplay?'

Sharmin Sehgal was selected after several tests

On one hand, while Sharmin Sehgal is being targeted by people on social media for her acting, she is also being accused that she has appeared in the series only because she is Sanjay Leela Bhansali's niece. On this allegation of the people, Sanjay has put forward his angle in a TV interview. During this, Sanjay said that Sharmin Sehgal has not been taken only because she is my niece, but many auditions and tests have been taken of her after which she has been given the role. Along with this, Sanjay told that he was looking for an actress like Sharmin Sehgal for the role of 'Alamzeb'.

Actor Jason Shah, who played the role of British police officer Cartwright in the series, also gave a statement about Sharmin Sehgal's acting. In fact, in an interview, Jason said that he also felt that there should have been more emotions in the role of Alamzeb. Along with this, he also shared an incident during the shooting and said that once Sanjay Leela Bhansali himself told him on the set to act from the heart and not from the mind.
