According to the legend, there lived a Brahmin named Devdutt in Marwar region and his wife was Shobhana who was very beautiful. While on one hand Brahma Devdutt was engrossed in worship and doing good deeds, on the other hand, his wife Shobhana was lost in her beauty. Shobhana felt that she was the only one beautiful in the whole world. The Brahmin's wife, being proud of her beauty, often misbehaved with others and considered others inferior to herself.
One day some girls came to the village who were much more beautiful than him. The Brahmin did not like this and in anger and jealousy she had the entire village burnt down by some people. After this, when the time came, Brahmini also died but in the next life she became Chandali and started facing many troubles in her life.
Due to being born in the Chandal group, she always received contempt, but in this birth she turned out to be a great devotee of Mother Sita. One day Chandali narrated her troubles in front of the statue of Mother Sita. Then Chandali remembered her previous birth by the grace of Mother Sita.
