Ganesh ji Pauranik Katha: In Hindu religion, there is a tradition of worshiping Lord Ganesha before all the gods and goddesses. Every auspicious work is started with the worship of Lord Ganesha. According to religious beliefs, worshiping Lord Ganesha prevents obstacles in work and leads to success. Do you know why Lord Ganesha is worshiped first. What is the reason for this? Let us know the mythological story related to this.
Why is Lord Ganesha worshipped?
According to mythology, there was a dispute among the gods and goddesses as to who should be worshiped first. Due to this dispute, all the gods and goddesses started claiming themselves to be the best. Seeing the dispute, Narad ji advised all the gods and goddesses to go to Lord Shiva.
Lord Shiva organized a competition.
When all the gods and goddesses told their views to Lord Shiva, Lord Shiva organized a competition. Lord Shiva asked all the gods to travel around the universe in his vehicle. Whoever comes first after circling the universe will be the first to be worshiped on earth.
When Ganesh ji started thinking,
after hearing this competition of Lord Shiva, all the gods and goddesses took their vehicles and set out to circumambulate the universe. At the same time, Ganesh ji's vehicle was a mouse. The mouse is small and moves very slowly, seeing this Ganesh ji started thinking. Instead of circling the universe, he revolved around his parents i.e. Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati seven times and stood in front of them with folded hands.
For this reason, Lord Ganesha is worshiped first.
After some time, when all the gods and goddesses returned after circumambulating, Lord Ganesha was present there. Everyone was surprised to see Lord Ganesha as to how he came first even after riding a rat. Lord Shiva also declared Ganesh ji the winner of the competition. After this Lord Shiva told that parents have been given the highest position in the universe. For this reason, son Ganesha revolved around his parents instead of the universe. Everyone agreed after listening to Lord Shiva and since then Lord Ganesha is worshiped first.
