Airtel has announced a hike in mobile tariffs by 10 to 21 percent. Like Jio, the new prices of Airtel plans will also be implemented from July 3, 2024. Bharti Airtel says that the mobile telecom service average revenue per user (ARPU) needs to be increased above Rs 300 for the financial health of telecom businesses in India.

The company said in a statement that it believes this level of ARPU will enable necessary and adequate investments in network technology and spectrum and deliver modest returns on capital.

After the hike, the basic plan of Rs 179 with 2GB data for 28 days will now cost Rs 199. The price of the plan offering 6GB data for 84 days will increase from Rs 455 to Rs 509, and the price of the annual plan offering 24GB data will increase from Rs 1799 to Rs 1999.

This is not the first time that the telecom company has increased the price. Earlier, there was a tariff hike of about 20% in December 2021. Before that, telecom companies had increased tariffs in December 2019, which was the first hike since Jio launched its service in 2016.
