Pakistan and China are hoping to improve relations with India in the third term of the Modi government. Pakistan has even said that it does not believe in enmity. Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar sent a positive message to India saying that his country does not believe in enmity. He appealed to the Modi government to consider relations peacefully. The 74-year-old Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader said that Pakistan always demands good relations with its neighbours.
He said that relations with India have been historically turbulent. Pakistan does not believe in perpetual hostility. We want good relations with India based on mutual respect, sovereign equality and peaceful resolution of the long-standing Jammu and Kashmir dispute. The Foreign Minister said that Pakistan has always been in favor of finding a solution through dialogue. Pakistan will never agree to a unilateral approach or attempts to impose India's will.
Relations between India and Pakistan have soured further after the removal of Article 370 from Kashmir on 5 August 2019. Islamabad believed that this decision has weakened the atmosphere for dialogue between the neighbors. India has been saying that it desires normal relations with Pakistan. It has also been insisting that terrorism and dialogue cannot go together.
Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister said that Pakistan will take every step necessary to maintain strategic stability in South Asia. He said that in our view, this is the time to seriously consider the future of India-Pakistan relations and important issues affecting the entire region.
