Eco-friendly diet will reduce the risk of death! Which things to include, know what research says

Eco Friendly Diet:
Our diet not only affects our health but also the environment. Recently, a new research has come out- which shows that people who follow an eco-friendly diet have less risk of cancer or heart-related diseases.

Eco Friendly Diet: People follow different types of diets to stay healthy and lose weight. But along with health, you have to set some standards in the diet so that the environment is not harmed. Daily Mail has written quoting experts that people who follow an eco-friendly diet are almost one-third less likely to die prematurely.

Not only this, these people also have a lower risk of cancer, heart disease and even lung disease. Let us tell you that the 'Planetary Health Diet' published in The Lancet five years ago is a plant and light meat based diet. It has been designed to reduce the risk of diseases as well as reduce the impact of agriculture on climate change.

Research on two lakh people

Scientists at Harvard University conducted research on more than 2 lakh people over a period of 30 years. Researchers observed how much the diet of these people matches the Planetary Health Diet. This diet includes vegetables, whole grains, dairy products like milk, cheese and curd and other things related to chicken and poultry.

More than 50 thousand deaths

Researchers found that 54,536 deaths were recorded in these 30 years of research, of which more than 14,600 were due to cancer and more than 13,700 deaths were due to heart disease. According to the researchers, the 10 percent of people who took care of their diet had almost one-third less risk of premature death than the rest.

Also beneficial for the environment

Writing in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, the researchers said that this diet of plants and light meat is not only good for people but it is also good for the environment. Following it reduces the amount of greenhouse gas emissions by 29 percent compared to the average diet.

According to the National Health Service, red meat can be included in the diet. It is a rich source of protein, minerals and vitamins. However, eating less than 90 grams of it can increase the risk of bowel cancer.

What things to include

Include fruits and vegetables in your diet. Fresh, frozen or dried fruits and vegetables can be included in it. Apart from this, it will also be beneficial to include potatoes, bread, rice and whole grains. Eat 30 grams of fiber daily. Also include low-fat dairy products. Drink at least 6 to 8 glasses of water.
