Pashupatinath Mandir: Pashupatinath temple of Lord Shiva is considered to be half part of Kedarnath, one of the 12 Jyotirlingas. This is the Pashupatinath temple of Nepal. Pashupatinath temple is located on the banks of Bagmati river in Devpatan village, 3 km north-west of Nepal's capital Kathmandu. It is believed that even today Lord Shiva is seated here. Apart from this, many mysteries are also associated with this temple.
History of Pashupatinath Temple
One of the names of Lord Shiva, who is called the God of Gods, is Pashupatinath. Which means that Lord Shiva is present in all four directions. According to religious scriptures, Lord Shri Pashupatinath is the eternal form of Parabrahma Shiva. He is known by the name Panch Vakraam Trinetram. Omkar originated in the form of Akar from the south mouth of Lord Shiva, Ukar from the west mouth, Mkar from the north mouth, Chandravindu from the east mouth and Naad from the upper Ishan mouth.
Pashupatinath temple was built in the third century BC by a king named Pashupreksh of the Somdev dynasty. There are some historical opinions related to the construction of this temple and if we believe them, then the temple was built in the 13th century. Entry of non-Hindus is prohibited in Pashupatinath, the abode of Lord Bholenath, but they can see it from outside. There is a Panchmukhi Shivling in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple. It is said that there is no such idol anywhere else in the world. According to Hindu Puranas, the history of Pashupatinath temple is thousands of years old.
By having darshan, one gets freedom from animal birth
It is believed that after wandering in 84 lakh yonis, one gets human birth. Also, according to the deeds of the person, he has to go through the remaining yonis again. One of which is also animal yoni. It is said that animal yoni is very painful, so everyone tries to attain salvation after being born in human yoni. There is a belief about Pashupatinath temple that by visiting this Jyotirlinga of Lord Shiva here, a person attains salvation. But devotees have to take special care that they do not visit Nandi before visiting Lord Shiva. It is believed that if a person does this, then his birth in animal yoni is certain.
water of arya ghat
Arya Ghat is situated outside the Pashupatinath temple. Since ancient times, there is a provision to take only the water of this ghat inside the temple. You cannot enter the temple premises with water from any other place.
Importance of Panchmukhi Shivling
The five faces of the Shivlinga installed in this temple have different qualities. The face facing south is called Aghor Mukh, the face facing west is called Sadyojat, the faces facing east and north are called Tatpurush and Ardhanarishwar. The face facing upwards is called Ishan Mukh. This is the formless face. This is the best face of Lord Pashupatinath.
