Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit his parliamentary constituency Varanasi for the first time after assuming power on June 18. During this, he will release the 17th installment of PM-Kisan Yojana worth more than Rs 20,000 crore for 9.26 crore beneficiary farmers across the country.

Modi will also provide certificates to more than 30,000 members of self-help groups (SHGs) who have been trained as Krishi Sakhis so that they can work as para-extension workers and help fellow farmers in farming.

Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan gave information

Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan, while talking to reporters, reiterated the government's commitment towards the agriculture sector. Chauhan said that agriculture has always been the priority of Prime Minister Modi in the last two terms. He took many important decisions in the interest of farmers. After taking oath as Prime Minister, Modi ji first signed the file related to the release of the 17th installment of PM-Kisan Yojana.

PM-KISAN, launched in 2019, is a direct benefit transfer (DBT) initiative. Under this, beneficiary farmers receive an annual amount of Rs 6,000 in three equal installments to meet their financial needs. Chauhan said that since the launch of the scheme, the Center has distributed more than Rs 3.04 lakh crore to more than 11 crore farmers across the country. Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and various ministers of the state may attend the event to be held in Varanasi. The Agriculture Minister also highlighted the Krishi Sakhi Yojana, which is a collaborative effort with the Ministry of Rural Development.

It is part of the 100-day program of the government

The scheme aims to train 90,000 women from self-help groups as para-extension agricultural workers to assist the farming community and generate additional income. So far, more than 34,000 Krishi Sakhis out of the targeted 70,000 have been certified as para-extension workers in 12 states - Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Odisha, Jharkhand, Andhra Pradesh and Meghalaya. The government is preparing a 100-day plan for the agriculture sector, emphasizing its commitment to the welfare of farmers and overall development of the agricultural scenario in the country.
