Satyavati's 3 conditions, cohabitation on the boat and the birth of Ved Vyas, have you ever heard this love story of Mahabharat's Rishi Parashar?

Rishi Parashar-Satyavati: Since childhood, we have been listening to many stories of Mahabharata. Today we will tell you about the love story of Rishi Parashar and Satyavati. Rishi Parashar was the grandson of the great sage Vasishtha and the son of Shaktimuni and Adyashyanti. Rishi Parashar had divine and supernatural powers. He killed many dreaded demons. At the same time, he gave birth to an Apsara. The Apsara was cursed to be a fish, due to which Satyavati's body used to smell of fish. A boatman raised Satyavati.

According to mythological beliefs, Rishi Parashar was sitting in a boat to cross the Yamuna. Satyavati was driving that boat. Rishi Parashar was fascinated by Satyavati's beauty. During this time, Rishi Parashar proposed sex to Satyavati. Satyavati agreed to sex but she told the sage that if he fulfills some conditions, she will be ready to have sex with him.

Satyavati placed 3 conditions

Satyavati's first condition was that no one should watch them while they were having sex. The sage accepted the condition and with his divine power created thick fog around them. The second condition was that her virginity should not be broken after sex. The sage assured her that her virginity would return. Satyavati's last condition was that he should make her body free from the smell of fish. To fulfill this condition, the sage made the smell disappear and her body started smelling of flowers.

Satyavati gave birth to a child

After this, Rishi Parashar and Satyavati had sexual intercourse and she gave birth to a boy. Satyavati's son later came to be known as Maharishi Ved Vyas. Let us tell you, Ved Vyas was the one who composed the Mahabharata.

How did Satyavati become the queen of Hastinapur?

It is said that Satyavati's son grew up soon after his birth. After which he went to do penance on a deserted island. Satyavati's son's color became black during penance due to which Krishna started recognizing him by the name Dwaipayan. Dwaipayan later described the Vedas due to which he came to be known as Ved Vyas. Let us tell you, Mahabharata was composed by Ved Vyas. After this, Satyavati got married to King Shantanu after which she became the queen of Hastinapur.
