T20 World Cup 2024: Pakistan bids farewell to the tournament by defeating Ireland by 3 wickets

 


In the 36th match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, Pakistan defeated Ireland by 3 wickets with the help of brilliant bowling. With this defeat, Pakistan bid farewell to the tournament with a win. Pakistan and Ireland have already been eliminated from the tournament. This win will give confidence to Pakistan. In this match played at Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground, Lauderhill, Florida, Pakistan won the toss and decided to bowl first. 

Ireland, batting first, could score only 106 runs in 20 overs losing 9 wickets. Gareth Delany scored the highest 31(19) runs from the team's bat. In this innings, he hit a four and 3 sixes. Joshua Little contributed 22(18) runs. In this innings, he hit 2 fours and a six. Mark Adair scored 15(19) runs. In this innings, he hit 2 fours. Delany and Adair added 44(30) runs for the seventh wicket. Imad Wasim and Shaheen Afridi took the highest 3-3 wickets from Pakistan's side. Mohammad Aamir took 2 wickets. Haris Rauf took one wicket. 

Chasing the target, Pakistan won the match by scoring 111 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 18.5 overs. Captain Babar Azam scored the most runs for Pakistan. He scored 32* runs with the help of 2 fours in 34 balls. Mohammad Rizwan and Sam Ayub contributed 17(16), 17(17) runs respectively. Abbas Afridi scored 17 runs with the help of a four and a six in 21 balls. Babar and Abbas added 33(40) runs for the seventh wicket. Barry McCarthy took the maximum 3 wickets for Ireland. Curtis Campher took 2 wickets. Mark Adair and Benjamin White got one wicket each.
