The brain disease that becomes the cause of infertility in women, these are the symptoms

Nowadays the problem of infertility is increasing a lot in women. Bad lifestyle is a big reason for this. But do you know that a gland present in the brain can also cause infertility? Let's know about this from the experts.

The problem of infertility has been increasing in India for the past few years. The scope of infertility is increasing so much that the number of IVF hospitals is increasing rapidly. The situation is worse in urban areas. According to the World Health Organization, cases of infertility in India have increased rapidly in the last 10 years. There are many reasons for this. Fertility is affected due to poor diet, disturbed lifestyle and changes in hormones. But do you know that a gland present in the brain can also be a cause of infertility in women? If the hormone produced in this gland starts being produced in the body in excess of the required amount, then the woman may have trouble conceiving a child.

Doctors say that there is a pituitary gland in the brain. It produces the prolactin hormone. This hormone is produced in both men and women. But its excessive production in women increases the risk of infertility. In many cases, increased prolactin is the cause of infertility. Let us know about this from experts.

What is prolactin hormone

Dr. Saloni Chaddha of the Gynecology Department at Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi explains that there is a pituitary gland in the brain. One of its functions is to produce prolactin hormone. Due to many reasons, the level of prolactin hormone increases in women. If prolactin is more than 30, then it is not considered good. Due to this, the woman may have trouble conceiving a child and it can cause infertility. If the level of prolactin increases in a woman and is not controlled, then it is called hyperprolactinemia. However, the level of this hormone increases during childbirth and pregnancy. In such a situation, there is no risk of its increase.

Dr. Saloni explains that it is normal for prolactin to increase after pregnancy, but if it is increased before pregnancy then it causes infertility. Prolactin is also tested in the body of women who are unable to conceive a child. If it is found to be increased then the doctor prescribes medicines for it.

What the symptoms look like

Dr. Saloni says that women suffering from hyperprolactinemia face problems like periods not coming on time. Due to increase in prolactin, there is a change in the process of ovulation in the body. Due to this, women's periods do not come on time. If a woman has this problem and is also unable to conceive a child, then prolactin should definitely be tested.
