Vinod Khanna had left acting at the peak of his career
This is about the time when Vinod Khanna used to be a successful actor in the industry. He worked in many hit films. Meanwhile, the actor's mother passed away, which disturbed him a lot. During this time, he met Acharya Rajneesh (Osho). He was so impressed by him that he suddenly retired from his film career. Vinod Khanna was married at that time. He had two sons, Akshay and Rahul. After deciding to retire, he divorced his wife Geetanjali and went to America and started living in Osho's ashram.
He became a gardener after going to Osho's ashram
Vinod Khanna left acting and became a sanyasi. In 1982, Vinod Khanna said goodbye to Bollywood and started living in Osho's ashram. Here he became the gardener of the ashram's garden. He used to do all the work in Osho's ashram, which included cooking food and cleaning toilets. Osho named him Swami Vinod Bharti. But after spending 5 years in the ashram, he came back and signed some films again, but he did not get that stardom.
When father pointed a gun at Vinod Khanna
Vinod Khanna wanted to become an actor but his father wanted him to become a businessman. When he told this to his father, he got angry and threatened to shoot him. This is when Vinod Khanna told his father about his dream of becoming an actor. Hearing this from Vinod Khanna, his father got so angry that he pointed a gun at him and said, if you go to the movies, I will shoot you. Later, after Vinod Khanna's mother convinced him, he allowed him to work in films for two years.
Played the role of a villain in the first film
One day suddenly Vinod Khanna met producer and director Sunil Dutt at a party. Those days Sunil was looking for a new face for the film Mann Ka Geet. Sunil Dutt offered him the role of a villain which Vinod Khanna accepted. His first film proved to be a superhit at the box office. After which he started getting offers to play villain in films. After this Gulzar offered him the role of a hero in a film and his career as a hero started. Vinod Khanna started giving superhit films one after the other.
