Online Games: Due to online addiction, depression and stress are increasing, along with this, the addiction of betting and online gaming is also increasing among children. Smartphone addiction and online gaming among teenagers have become a challenge of today's time. Recently, America was out of the list of top-20 countries of the World Happiness Index because of this reason because most of the teenagers there were found to be unhappy and smartphone addiction played a big role in it. Now a study published in the journal PLOS Mental Health has found that excessive internet use by teenagers affects those parts of their brain that help in concentrating, learning new things, remembering something and staying physically balanced. This is having a bad effect on their overall development and health.
Research was conducted on 237 children aged 10 to 19 years between 2013 and 2022. Doctors had declared these children sick saying that they have become so addicted to the internet that it is affecting their health, studies and their future. Scientists found that certain parts of the brain work together, which helps us concentrate or take the right decisions. But the children who were addicted to the internet, these parts of the brain were not communicating properly with each other. That is, the parts of the brain that should work together were not able to talk to each other.
Addiction to online gaming is also increasing among children
Due to online addiction, depression and stress are increasing, along with this, the addiction of betting and online gaming is also increasing among children. To reduce the addiction of online gaming and gambling among children and youth, the Government of India is thinking of imposing some restrictions on these areas. The Government of India is working on new rules, under which online gaming companies will have to ensure that time and spending limits are being followed in India. To do this, they will have to adopt some method. For this, the government has also formed SRB (Self Regulatory Body).
Time for children to play games in China is fixed
India is one of the largest gaming markets in the world. About 57 crore people in the country play online games. A large part of them, about 25%, invest money in these games. But now India is moving ahead on China's formula in terms of online gaming. China has strict rules to protect children from game addiction. In November 2019, children under the age of 18 were banned from playing games for more than 90 minutes a day. Also, they were allowed to play games only for 3 hours on government holidays. In August 2021, these rules were made more strict. Now children under the age of 18 can play games only on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and government holidays, that too for only 1 hour.
